Cheryl is a BOARD CERTIFIED Art Therapist and Play therapist and certified daring way(TM) facilitator. she is available for utilizing these therapeutic approaches in your healing journey. Cheryl provides clinical supervision to social workers in NC, SC and AK, and counselors in SC.

Cheryl…

graduated from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH in 1991 with a Bachelor of Art in Graphic Design, Photography, and Psychology. She then attended and graduated from The College of Social Work at The University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1998 with a Master of Social Work.

Since Cheryl has worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years as a medical social worker. She has worked in long-term care, assisted living, hospice, hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehab, dialysis, and mental health care facilities.

In 2009, Cheryl had the opportunity to study with Joni Eareckson Tada at the Joni and Friends International Disability Center where she was awarded a certificate in disability ministry.

In 2011, Cheryl was awarded the 4th highest honor a civilian can receive – The Commanders Award for Public Service by the United States Army.

She returned to graduate school by attending Saint Mary of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute Indiana. She received a Master of Arts in Art Therapy in 2017. She has received her provisional board certification through the Art Therapy Credentials Board.

Cheryl is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator and conducts The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ workshops based on the research of Brené Brown.

In 2020, Cheryl received her full Registered Play Therapy (RPT) credential from the Association for Play Therapy, and her full Registered Art Therapist (ATR) from the Art Therapy Credentials Board.

Lastly, in 2022, Cheryl completed the approved 40-hour Family Court Mediation Certification Training through the South Carolina Bar.

Cheryl is the owner and psychotherapist of Beauty for Ashes Counseling, LLC. She is licensed to practice clinical social work independently in SC, NC, and AK. She is a clinical supervisor for master-level social workers in AK, NC, and SC, and a Licensed Professional Counselor supervisor candidate in SC.

Cheryl also serves as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem in Greenville County Family Court and provides mediation services for clients who are facing litigation in Probate Court and Family Court in South Carolina.

Cheryl enjoys writing, illustrating, painting, photography, and anything else that sets her free creatively. Cheryl has been involved with many publication projects including magazine publications, several published books, and some manuscripts pending print.

Cheryl serves clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alaska. She is out of network with all insurance carriers except Medicare Part B, TriCare, and Alaska Medicaid (pending) but is happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance to utilize your out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.
